Ian McArdle has over forty years experience in public sector labour relations, including the federal and provincial governments. He specializes in all aspects of labour and employee relations, particularly collective bargaining, grievance management, arbitration, mediation, strategic planning and public governance.
Ian also provides management and staff training in a broad range of human resource activities including the emerging field of managing workplace incivility.
Ian’s clients include; municipalities, school boards, social services agencies, long term care homes, and a variety of other organizations in the not-for-profit sector.
Before becoming a consultant in 2006, he was Executive Director, Colleges Compensation and Appointments Council, a central agency for Ontario’s Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. In that role, he directed the central labour relations function for the twenty four community colleges and the appointment process for all the external members of the colleges’ Boards of Governors.
Prior to working for Ontario’s college system Ian worked for three federal government departments; Environment, Communications and National Defense.
In addition to his consulting responsibilities Ian teaches alpine skiing to people with physical disabilities.
Ian is a member of the Human Resources Professional Association (Ontario).
