SUSAN WILSON,
MA
Associate Consultant
Susan brings to our team a variety of expertise from her
work as a facilitator, trainer, interviewer, evaluator,
and project manager in both the public and private sectors
for over 25 years. She has worked with government, health
care, social services, vocational rehabilitation, libraries,
and performing arts organizations.
She is known for her creativity, efficiency, and effectiveness
in the delivery of high-profile projects and for her collegiality
in leading teams. She has designed and delivered training
programs, planning processes, and focus groups for Boards
of Directors, Executive Directors, staff teams, volunteer
committees, and public consultations.
Susan believes that, to sustain organizational effectiveness
in times of change, it is essential to maintain an atmosphere
of trust that fosters the creativity and communication of
those involved in change management and team-building. She
endeavours to ensure the effective development and implementation
of policies and strategic initiatives by engaging all appropriate
parties throughout the process.

IAN MCARDLE
Associate Consultant
Ian McArdle is the owner and principal of his own consulting
practice specializing in all aspects of labour relations
and strategic planning. This includes collective bargaining,
grievances, arbitrations and general internal and external
employment relationship management. He has over thirty five
years of experience in the field of labour relations in
the public and broader public sectors with the federal and
provincial governments.
Ian recently worked in the Ontario college system where
he had been the Executive Director of the College Compensation
and Appointments Council for many years. In that role he
directed the central labour relations function for the twenty
four community colleges and the appointment process for
all the external members of the colleges’ Boards of Governors.
Before joining the college system Ian held a variety of
staff positions specializing in labour and employment matters
in federal government departments.
During his career Ian has negotiated with many trade unions.
His success and experience in this area provides the additional
advantage of being able to advise clients regarding the
crucial interaction between governing boards and their employees,
an area of increasingly critical importance in the non-profit
employment environment.

DAVID MAHY
Associate Consultant
David Mahy comes to our team as a seasoned senior human
resources manager. In his most recent roles as the Associate
Vice President of Human Resources at Trent University and
the Director of Employment Services at Baycrest Centre for
Geriatric Care, David oversaw the labour/employee relations,
compensation and benefits, and recruitment functions. Prior
to those positions David was the Vice President of Human
Resources with Central Park Lodge and provided HR leadership
to long-term care homes throughout Canada and the United
States. He also has many years of experience as a senior
human resources professional in the hospitality industry.
David is best known for his commitment and genuine desire
to resolve conflicts with win-win solutions. He strives
to establish and nurture collaborative relationships with
bargaining units and professionals as well as to resolve
complaints and grievances constructively.
As a Consultant, David provides services to clients in
the following areas – labour relations negotiations, grievances
and arbitration; workplace investigations; human rights
complaints; coaching and mentoring managers; and developing
programs and tools in Attendance Management, Pay Equity
and Performance Management.
